Are you a teenager who likes to write? Do you know a budding writer who might benefit from a creative boost? In this one-day workshop for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 15, you will join other teens to play with words, experiment with fun writing prompts, learn to share your writing with peers, and leave with new inspiration for your creativity.
This course will meet on Saturday, 10 June 2023 from 10:00 to 14:00 at Studio BloemDwars, Bloemgracht 167, 1016 KM Amsterdam (see map). You will receive a mix of instruction, writing exercises in poetry, fiction and/or creative nonfiction, discussion and sharing. Class size is 7-10 participants, aged 12-15 years old. Lunch will be provided.
We are proud to offer this course as our sponsorship of the 2023 Flash Fiction Challenge, a writing contest for first and second level students enrolled in bilingual secondary schools in the Netherlands. The two winners of this year’s contest will be awarded a seat in our Teen Creative Writing Workshop.
This course is taught by Jennifer Gryzenhout. Jennifer is a writer of fiction and creative nonfiction from Calgary, Canada. She teaches English literature at the International School of Amsterdam and creative writing with the Collective. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. She has short stories published in Ink Tears and The Avalon Literary Review, and is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize nomination.
