This Level IV creative writing workshop runs from 4 October through 6 December. If student location permits, we may schedule a couple of in-person classes in Amsterdam, but the default format of this course is online. The course meets on Tuesdays from 18:30 – 21:15 (depending on class size) Amsterdam time.
This Level IV workshop is designed to support writers in completing their novels. If you are working on shorter projects – stories, poems, essays – we recommend you join our regular Level III course.
This course is open to writers who have completed two terms of Level III and by permission of the instructor. If you’re new to this course, please contact us before registering.
HOW IT WORKS
During the term, you’ll have five opportunities to submit work for critique (up to 5000 words per submission, due the Saturday before class). You can bring in chapters, outlines, query letters, synopses – whatever will be most helpful to you. There is no written critiquing required, however, you are expected to read each submission in advance and engage with the writer’s questions. Each writer gets an equal amount of time in class where we will focus completely on your work. You’ll also have access to our exercise library.
You will be placed in one of two blocks to determine the dates your work will be critiqued. We will try to accommodate any scheduling conflicts – first come, first served. The blocks meet on alternating weeks. Class size is 4 – 5 students per block.
OUR REFUND POLICY
No matter how early you register, if something changes and you can’t join the course, you can let us know at least 72 hours before the first class (so we can offer your spot to someone else) and we’ll give you a complete refund. You can find the full details of our generous refund policy in our terms.
